Pumpkin Dumpin

My friend Crooked Tiara put up on her blog a delicious dump cake. I am trying her pumpkin variation...Yes I put butter on it before it went into the oven. I will post the results in about 30 mins...yummy It's molten hot...yet yummy and the same time

Where am I standing???

Can you guess where I am? I know only locals would have a clue. My focus was the flag on this windy day. When I say the photo I thought how random is this? Can you tell where I am? Then I thought...make it a game of sorts...I love where's Waldo. This is kind of the reverse...have fun :0)

Roots

Way back in early February, I went to my hair girl and asked for some of those pretty blond highlights...Well I now have at least 4 inches of roots to prove it's time to go see her again.

Shhhh

When on the throne I sit,

In the room so brightly lit,

I hope to be as quiet as a mouse,

Trying hard not to wake the sleeping spouse !

New Tool

I saw this new craft "tool" on Martha Stewart's noon time show. It's a board that helps you score paper for easy folding. It is used to make cards, envelopes and boxes. I made the box on the right...it holds a prize for Rev Roo...can't wait to show her tomorrow...

Little Bundts

The day was cold and windy so I got the urge to bake some goodies...2 points a piece. I'm sure they wont last long.

School Bunny

Can you see him? Right there in the middle of the picture. If you say "hey, that's a bunny," then you are right on. At work (Lemon Crest Elementary), we have a wild bunny that has decided to live on campus. We see him in the mornings eating grass and clover. He must have born here because the noise of the children throughout the day does not seem to bother him in the least. The kids stay on the sidewalk and he stays on the grass. We think it's the coolest thing to have nature so close to our classrooms.

Sunny Days

The days are getting hotter out on the playground. To keep me cool and maybe have less freckles on my face, I wear a visor. One of my favorites is this yellow and black one from 2 years ago. A friend had the great opportunity to go to the Daytona 500 in Florida. He offered to bring back a prize for me. He couldn't get to the Tony Stewart trailer, so he got this instead. He even got the 500 pin for the 60th anniversary. Maybe some day I will get to a NASCAR race. It is on my bucket list for sure.

Little Lakeside Cowboy

One of my favorite little kids at school. I met him last year while working in a kindergarten class. He stood out to me for a couple of reasons. One, he kinda got in trouble a lot. (much like me). Two, he wore his cowboy boots almost every day.

I love that he doesn't care what other people think. He likes his boots, so he wears them. It doesn't have to be a special day or even inclement weather.

Little Lakeside cowboy for sure.

How to draw a horse

If you need to know how to draw a horse, here are the 8 simple steps. Have fun with this. It's not as easy as it looks...

Bees

We made bees at school. Construction paper, glue, wax paper, chenille stems and staples...

9061

Over a quarter of a century ago, I moved into this house. I was young, married and pregnant. We were only going to stay for 5 years, until we built a new home. That dream never evolved. Both of my children have only known this house as home. I have lots of memories in this house. Babies, parties, fights, laughs, structural changes, nieces and nephews have found comfort here. After funeral stories were told, construction hammers have driven in nails, tears have fallen, the earth has rolled under our feet, and yet the house still stands. 9061...where I lay my head.

Wash me clean

Enjoying the daily chores of domestic life is a forced way of thinking. I have done these same chores week after week for almost 30 years. The size of the clothing changes and the number of pieces differs but the basic task is identical.

It was "dangerous" to hold the phone over the running water of the washing machine today...ooOOoo0. Living on the edge, (ha ha), what if I had dropped the phone into the tub. But I didn't and the chore went on as planned.

I wish that I could some how squeeze into the machine and wash away the dirt that has clung onto me. I know that Jesus has already washed my sins away, but man am I tired of asking for that forgiveness. Is it possible to go through one day and not "step in it?" I will never be perfect and I will try every day to improve, but will there ever come a day when I can be happy about the previous 24 hours? Only time will tell...

All Stars

I went to yogurt barn tonight to help a friend and her daughter. It was a fundraiser to benefit the all star team. It was a small thing for me to do so it seemed. I wish I would've done more. We sat on the tailgate of my truck in our small town and ate yogurt. You can't do that in the big city now can you? Spending time with "Lil Chicken" is a favorite pass time for me.

When I drove past this sign in the parking structure today, I thought of a melt down...a Level 2 melt down...I parked on level 3...ha

Blue Ribbon Dylan

Went to the fair today. Seeing all of the kids with their whites on and the fresh shavings. Hearing the animals brought back so many memories. I was to meet up with a friend and visit. She said she would have her phone on her but she left it in the car. It felt like one more person in my life that didn't care. She felt bad and apologized and gave me a hug, but I still felt alone.
The boy in this picture is Dylan. Amy used to take lessons from his mom with her horses. Dylan was in diapers back then.
Just goes to show you, life goes on. We have a choice to be a part of it.

Beepot

Shopping is fun. Shopping on line is lazy and fun. I saw this teapot. I want it. That got me thinking. Why do I want it. Will it change my emotional state? Will it bring me happiness? Why am unsatisfied? Maybe because there is going to be change once again in my life. I find myself sad most of the time lately. Is it me or my surroundings? Work is painful. I'm giving up and I want it all to go away.

Mama's Cherokee???

I went to the store and saw this car. I rode in a car just like that when Amy's mother-in-law picked me up from the train station. Not many border patrol green jeep Cherokee's in town that I know of. Had to take a picture of it. My daughter tells me that "mama" sold that car not long ago. Makes you wanna say hummmmmmmmmm.

Nite out

My brother and his band played in a little dive bar in Leucadia tonight. We danced and laughed and listen to him play for 3 hours. More fun than I can remember...it felt like old times when we were young and did the same thing ...(but not in a bar)

Can?

Can a stool be a table? Can a stool be a functional piece of furniture? Can I be any more uncreative than this? Can I be late again for my post on Friday? Can I start a sentence without using the word can?

Girls in the yard

Well, I must confess, I have been lax in posting for a couple of days. It didn't seem relevant any more. All of my creativeness had left my brain. So I took some pictures and tried to be adventurous. FAIL...just the same random stuff. BUT...today is Thursday and I didn't want to be in a pinch and take another streetlight photo at 1 am. These dogs are "the girls"...Maggie is the black one and Faye is the one in white. Mother and daughter. Yes they are facing away...they are not down with the paparazzi.

The Tree

This is the tree in the front yard...I'm going to take more pictures of its different stages throughout the year. I ran across a picture of it from years ago and couldn't believe how big its trunk has grown over time.

Boo boo paw

Maggie hurt her dew claw yesterday. She limped around all day or hid in her bed. Mark and I wrapped her paw with tape, like the pros do..., but she limped more. It's kind of like a big hang nail right now. She has her ears pinned back because she is in pain and she hates it when I take her picture.

Tiki Man

This is our Tiki man. Mark found him way before I met him and he used to be at his mom's house. When we bought our house some 30 years ago he got to live with us. He has been in the back yard under palm trees and when we put in the pool he a place of honor between 2 tiki torches. Now he is up on the bank over looking the front yard. He is made of concrete and we have had to touch up his "make up" only once. Don't you love him?

R, W, & B Star

I like stars and this one is my favorite Red, White and Blue...It looks as if it is on the floor but it truly is on the wall...Rich, deep, bold colors...just like me :}

Faith

Finished a pray square today...it is a long over due thank you for a friend at church.
